Answers to common questions – and how to reach us.
Account & data
Do I need an account?
No. Rapport starts without signing in. In the background an anonymous account is created so that your encrypted data can be backed up. “Sign in with Apple” is optional – no name, no email address – and lets you take your data to a new iPhone.
What is the recovery key?
Your entries are encrypted with a key only you hold. It lives in your iPhone’s keychain and can sync across your devices via iCloud Keychain. You’ll find the recovery key in Settings under “Account & sync” → “Recovery key”.
Keep it somewhere safe, such as your password manager – anyone who has it can decrypt your data. We can’t reset it: without the key and without iCloud Keychain, backed-up data cannot be restored.
How do I move my data to a new iPhone?
On your current iPhone, sign in with Apple under “Account & sync”. On the new iPhone, choose “Continue with Apple”; your account opens and your data syncs. If iCloud Keychain is on, the key is already there – otherwise enter your recovery key.
How do I export my data?
In Settings, use the data export. You’ll get a Rapport export that you can share or save.
How do I delete my data?
Delete individual entries, people or patterns right where you see them. You can clear the app’s memory with “Delete entire AI memory”; your entries stay.
Everything at once: Settings → “Delete account and all data”. This removes your account and all encrypted records on the server. Nothing can be restored afterwards.
Who can read my entries?
Only you. Anything that syncs is end-to-end encrypted – we can’t read it either. Rapport only uses cloud AI if you explicitly switch it on; then small excerpts, with names replaced by placeholders, go to an AI service. More in the privacy policy.
Does Rapport work without Apple Intelligence?
Yes. Check-in, journal, reflection, Inner World and crisis help work on every supported iPhone. Where a language model would otherwise phrase things, Rapport uses simple, fixed wording.
Rapport Plus
How much does Rapport cost?
You start for free. Rapport Plus is an optional subscription for more depth: in-depth reviews, full memory, the Inner World map, long-term patterns and voice notes. During the beta, everything is free. Prices: [PRICES – before launch].
Crisis help, check-in and journal are never behind a subscription.
How do I cancel a subscription?
Subscriptions are managed in your Apple Account: iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Apple handles refunds via reportaproblem.apple.com.
Wellbeing & safety
Is Rapport therapy?
No. Rapport is a tool for wellbeing and self-reflection. It does not diagnose and is not a substitute for medical or psychotherapeutic care. Possible patterns are hypotheses you test yourself.
What does Rapport do if I write about a crisis?
If the app notices signs of an acute crisis, it shows emergency numbers and people who listen. This detection runs on your device. The “Help & emergency” page works offline and is always free.
